NOMINATE YOUR FAVORITE FOR THE BAYWOOD HOME MAINTENANCE AWARD BY

WEDNESDAY, JULY 27TH

BNA Board Members Lisa Diaz Nash, Michael Nash and Teresa Rose with 2021 Baywood Home Maintenance Award Winners Sherman Chan, Irma Velasquez and Sesame

It's that time of year again to nominate the Baywood homes that best exemplify our beautiful Baywood community. Neighbors have taken such great care of their homes all throughout the pandemic. Now is the time to spotlight all their hard work and say thank you!

We encourage all Baywood residents to send your Home Maintenance Award nominationsto baywoodhomeowners@gmail.com. Nominations should include:

  • Resident name(s)

  • Resident contact information (if known)

  • Street address

  • A high resolution (at least 300dpi) color photo of the home; and

  • One sentence about why you think this home should win the Award

We've extended the nominating deadline to Wednesday, July 27. Please give a shout out to a neighbor you think is working hard to keep their home and outdoors beautiful. Effort counts as much as outcome...so nominate a home by emailing us at baywoodneighborhood@gmail.com.

Your Baywood Neighborhood Association Board of Directors will choose the winning home and submit it to San Mateo City staff. The winner will be recognized, along with the winners of the other San Mateo neighborhood association home maintenance awards, by the San Mateo City Council at their Tuesday, September 6th meeting. The winner also will receive a $100 gift certificate to the San Mateo local merchant of their choice.

So, please nominate your favorite(s) and let's celebrate what a beautiful and friendly place Baywood is!

THREE MORE MUSIC IN THE PARK NIGHTS, THURSDAYS, 6PM-8PM, CENTRAL PARK

We hope everyone has had a chance to stop by the great Music In The Park (https://www.cityofsanmateo.org/1367/Central-Park-Music-Series) series, Thursday nights, 6pm-8pm, in Central Park. It's a wonderful chance to enjoy the summer evenings and a picnic with friends while listening (and dancing!) to great bands playing all types of music. Food trucks also are at the concerts and there are many fun things for kids to do.

Three concerts remain in this year's Music In The Park series:

So clear your Thursday night calendars and make plans to enjoy Music In the Park. And don't forget that Movies In the Park (https://www.cityofsanmateo.org/3244/Movies-in-the-Park) will run on Friday nights throughout the month of September. Food and drink on sale will start at 6pm, movies at dusk ~7:30pm.

A different San Mateo park will host a movie each week:

PARKS & RECREATION BAY TREE PARK PICNIC TABLE SURVEY RESULTS

Based on neighborhood feedback, your Baywood Neighborhood Association worked with the City's Parks and Recreation Department on a survey to ask the community whether or not to add 1 or 2 picnic tables to Bay Tree Park so that neighbors could take more advantage of this beautiful park. Thanks to the 60+ of you who took the survey...we have a very engaged neighborhood!

The majority of survey respondents supported the new picnic tables. But it was a small majority and those opposed to the picnic tables felt very strongly they would make the area too noisy.

Since we proposed the idea as a way to improve everyone's enjoyment of the park, we have decided NOT to proceed with installing picnic tables at this time. Thanks to everyone who shared their opinions with us and Parks and Rec. Please continue to send your ideas to us for how to make Baywood an even more vibrant community.
