Electrify Your Home

Are you interested in electrifying your home but not interested in the legwork of developing your own home electrification plan? Switching to electric heating and cooking technologies creates safer homes and communities for generations to come, but the process can be complicated. The City of San Mateo, 350 Silicon Valley and Peninsula Clean Energy are partnering to host a community-led workshop that will share information on how to take advantage of new direct installation and concierge services to make home electrification easier than ever.

First Friday Nights at CuriOdyssey

Join CuriOdyssey for an amazing start to Earth Month! Dance to some of your favorite pop and rock hits while enjoying animal presentations, tacos from Lilo's Kitchen, and pupusas from Antojitos Salvadoreños. Kids will be able to do fun nature-based activities like creating seed pods and leaf rubbings. Plus, you can reimagine the California Flag with other endangered wildlife on our coloring postcards, which you can send to your representatives to encourage them to protect our native species this month!

Join for an evening talk, "The Science Behind Living Better Longer," with Buck Institute Fellow Sidharth Madhavan to hear about his research on the biology of aging and Buck’s efforts to end the threat of age-related disease. As a Ph.D. Fellow in the Newman Lab, Sidharth Madhavan investigates the propensity for small energetic metabolites to modulate proteostasis in Alzheimer’s disease.

Downtown San Mateo Boba Day

At the Downtown San Mateo Association booth, you can vote for “Downtown San Mateo’s Favorite Boba”! Plus, get a prize when you present proof of boba purchase on 4/28! AND, you can pretend to be a human boba in our Zorb race!

Bike Rodeo and Family Fun Ride
May 4, 2024
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon at Bayside Academy, located at 2025 Kehoe Avenue next to Bayside/Joinville Park. The event, which is primarily geared towards school-aged children and their families, will include a kids’ bicycle skills clinic, bike repair station, helmet checks, free raffle, live DJ music, face painting, balloon artist, bike blender, as well as a group bike ride through the neighborhood led by San Mateo Police.
