2020 Baywood Holiday Lights Winner

AND THE WINNER OF THE 2020 BAYWOOD HOLIDAY LIGHTS AWARD IS...

Holiday Lights shines on Baywood Knolls this year! We are so pleased to award the 2020 Baywood Holiday Lights Award to Matt and Sarah Klimek of Nevada Avenue in Baywood Knolls. Matt and Sarah, and their two young children, really got into the holiday spirit as they decorated their house. This was their first Christmas in Baywood and they made the most of it. Their neighbors were so glad they were part of the neighborhood. We second that emotion! As part of their award, the Klimeks chose a $100 gift certificate to Joy Sushi on South B Street and are looking forward to some delicious sushi. Your Baywood Owners Improvement Association (BOIA) holds the annual Baywood Holiday Lights Award to celebrate all that our Baywood neighbors do during the holidays to make Baywood a place for everyone to celebrate. Thanks to everyone who put up lights this year and gave us something to smile about in this challenging year!

A BAYWOOD HIDDEN GEM: ARROYO COURT PARK

Did you know we have a California Historical Landmark in our Baywood neighborhood? Landmark #47, known as the ANZA EXPEDITION CAMP, is located in Arroyo Court Park just a block away from our beautiful San Mateo Public Library on 3rd Avenue & Dartmouth. Dedicated in October 1949, this landmark memorializes when Captain J.B. de Anza camped in the park in 1776 after exploring the Peninsula and selecting the sites for the Mission and Presidio of San Francisco. The monument is just one of the enticing elements of Arroyo Court Park. The San Mateo Creek flows through the entirety of the park and provides a welcome home for ducts, butterflies and other little creatures. The natural habitat and vast array of native California trees bring shade and a welcome bit of solitude steps from Downtown. Swing on by and enjoy the park. BOIA will be working with our San Mateo Parks and Rec Department to give the park a bit of "spring cleaning." Please let us know if you want to help!
