BAYWOOD BULLETIN APRIL 2023 EDITION

BAYWOOD COFFEE SOCIALS TO RESTART!

NEXT SATURDAY, MAY 6, 9AM-11AM

BAY TREE PARK, 150 DARTMOUTH ROAD

Spring is finally "springing" and it is time to restart our Baywood Coffee Socials...yeah! The first Coffee Social will be this upcoming Saturday, May 6, 9am-11am, in Bay Tree Park at 150 Dartmouth Road. Our June coffee will be at St. John's Cemetary and include an historic tour, so stay tuned. We started our Baywood Coffee Socials in late 2021 as a great way to catch up with old friends and meet new ones. Starbucks coffee and Draegers treats make the walk worthwhile. Corn Hole has become a favorite game for kids at the Coffees. So many great dogs drop by that we wonder whether we really are holding Dog Socials in disguise:-) This is what neighborhoods should be about! Thanks to the generosity of our neighbors who have signed up as BNA members and payed membership dues so that we can put on events like our Baywood Coffee Socials. Everyone is always welcome, but joining our association at https://www.baywoodneighborhood.org/become-a-member-now make future events like this possible. Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 6th, 9am-11am, for the return of Baywood Coffee Socials at Bay Tree Park. Bring your dogs, kids, bikes, scooters and sense of adventure...we hope to see you there!

SAN MATEO HERITAGE ALLIANCE COMMUNITY MEETING Thursday, May 4, 5:30pm-7:30pm Oak Room, San Mateo Library Main Branch

San Mateo has many beautiful historic homes of varied styles, such as Spanish Revival and Tudor Revival, popularized in the 1920s and 1930s. They are living reminders of the neighborhood history we all share. Our homes are an important reason why we choose to live in the Baywood neighborhood of San Mateo.

The San Mateo Heritage Alliance, www.smheritage.org, was founded by residents across San Mateo to identify and protect our shared history. SMHeritage is conducting an historic resource survey of the original Baywood subdivision to identify whether the Baywood neighborhood qualifies for listing in the National Register of Historic Places as a residential historic district.

Please join SMHeritage and the professional architectural historians from Page & Turnbull on Thursday, May 4, 5:30pm-7:30pm, in the Oak Room of the San Mateo Public Library at 55 W. 3rd, to learn about the Baywood survey, what a historic district means, and how it can benefit you.

Wine and light refreshments will be served.

Visit the SMHeritage website www.smheritage.org or email info@smheritage.org for more information.
